The core of Schibsted’s publishing operations comprises the wholly owned company Schibsted Forlag AS and its Swedish subsidiaries. This publishing house is Norway’s fourth largest and one of the leading publishers of biographies, history books, documentary books, annuals, humour books, books on food and beverages and travel guides. It also focuses translated fiction, books for children and young people and language courses.
Schibsted Forlag is one of Norway’s largest and oldest publishers of light fiction, detective novels and comics. Schibsted Forlag also imports and stocks several thousand foreign book titles, with particular emphasis on English-language fiction, travel guides and coffee table books. In addition, it publishes magazines like Maison, Maison Mat & Vin and Design Interiør.
The Baltic region
Schibsted also has magazine operations in the Baltic region. Ajakirjade Kirjastus (in which Eesti Meedia has a 50% stake) publishes around 20 magazine titles in Estonia and is this country’s largest magazine publisher. Zurnalu Leidybos Grupe publishes around 10 magazine titles in Lithuania, including this country’s best-selling magazine, Zmones.
