Schibsted Forlag AS publishing house is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schibsted ASA, and is one of the leading book publishers in Norway. An uninterrupted line can be traced back to the publishing house that was founded by Chr. Schibsted in Christiania (now Oslo) in 1839 and was the forerunner to Aftenposten newspaper established in 1860.
Schibsted Forlag is therefore the original company out of which the Schibsted group originated.
Today the activities of the publishing house span fiction, non-fiction, annuals, children’s literature, travel guides, language courses and light fiction series. Schibsted Forlag is Norway’s leading importer of foreign books for sale in Norwegian bookstores. Its sister publishing house in Sweden is Schibsted Förlag AB.
In addition to the book-oriented activities, Schibsted Forlag also publishes some of Norway’s leading food and interior magazines as well as several popular cartoon series.
The company is part of Schibsted Norge.
